Kathryn and Jeff have known each for about fifteen years or so, stemming from their memberships to the Adirondack League Club. After noticing some social media pics of an adventurous trip Kathryn took to Ecuador, Jeff commented online. She noticed Jeff's recent trip to run a marathon in Bhutan, and commented too. They agreed to swap stories during the upcoming summer in the Adirondacks.

At the June cocktail party to open the summer season at Little Moose Lake, Kathryn walked in and immediately caught Jeff’s eye. They quickly began to catch up when Kathryn invited Jeff to run the 15K Boilermaker Race in Utica the following weekend. They carpooled and talked during the carpool and the entire race (even after Jeff stated he never talks during runs).

After the race, Jeff asked her to a Dave Matthews Band concert the following weekend. They had a great time! A couple weeks later, Kathryn joked to Jeff, “I signed up for a yoga & music retreat in Bali in November. Wanna go to that concert?” thinking because of the distance (and their new friendship) he'd politely decline. Jeff signed up a couple of days later for Bali even though it was four months in the future…

And Jeff wasn't done signing up for things just yet. The week after signing up for the yoga retreat, Jeff booked this wedding date at the ALC, two years in advance! Jeff just knew.

At end of the 2023 summer, even though Kathryn and Jeff were having a great time getting to know one another, Kathryn confessed that she could not do another long-distance relationship. Jeff booked a ticket to Tucson for a couple of weeks to check it out, fell further in love with Arizona and each other. They bought a house in the foothills of Mt. Lemmon together in March 2024.

So far it's been 12 months together, travel adventures in 6 states and 8 countries (including the summit of Kilimanjaro in Africa)! Upon returning to the Adirondacks in July 2024, Jeff proposed to Kathryn on the one-year anniversary of his registering for the yoga & music retreat in Bali. Guess it was a pretty good concert!

And so here we are now, getting closer to the date that Jeff reserved for the wedding after dating Kathryn for a month. Sometimes you just know…
