Things to Do

There are go many great things to do at the ALC and around Old Forge! Here are just a few:

AT THE ALC

Hiking - there are over 100 miles of hiking trails within the ALC. We will offer a few group hike options on Saturday!

Sailing - take a Sunfish for a spin on Little Moose Lake.

Boating - there are a mix of kayaks, paddle boards, and row boats for your enjoyment on Little Moose Lake.

Fishing - Helloooo! Lots of lake trout and landlocked in Little Moose Lake (bring your rod). Jeff will show you the best spots.

Shooting - there is a sporting clay course, 5-stand, and wobble trap stand available to test your aim. Skeet shooting is a blast. Zing!

Mountain Biking - We have a couple, and if those are spoken for, we can help you reserve one at Petals & Pedals in nearby Inlet, NY. There are nice, wide dirt roads aka "fire roads" throughout the preserve that are terrific, and there are singletrack trails available too.

Road Biking - We have some lovely roads surrounding the ALC, like the 23-mile South Shore & Route 28 route. Rolling Adirondack hills, but not too steep. Kathryn used to train on these roads while preparing for World Champs each year during her pro cycling career. Drivers are friendly, but ya gotta watch for deer! :)

Swimming & Sunbathing - Yep. We got that. Come chill at the lake beach. September can be chilly or warm, be ready for either! Plenty of lounge chairs at the beach should the early autumn temps turn to summer.

Pickleball & Tennis - Play some games on some of the only wooden tennis courts in the country! There are also pickleball courts available, if you want to pull a muscle before the ceremony.
